Privacy Policy
Daybread is a Bible devotional app for iPhone and iPad. This policy explains what information the app handles and how. It is intentionally short because the app is intentionally simple — Daybread does not operate any servers and does not collect personal data from you.
Summary
- No accounts. You don't sign up, sign in, or give us an email.
- No tracking. No analytics, no ads, no third-party SDKs.
- No advertising identifier. Daybread does not use IDFA and does not request App Tracking Transparency permission.
- No servers. Daybread has no backend. We cannot see your data because we never receive it.
- No sale of personal information. We don't have any to sell.
- Everything stays on your device.
What stays on your device
All of the following is stored locally on your iPhone or iPad and never transmitted anywhere:
- Your notes and reflections (saved via Apple's SwiftData framework)
- Your streak count and last-interaction date
- Your settings (preferred translation, notification time, notification toggle)
- Your likes (one heart per verse per day, stored locally to prevent double-counting)
- Cached verses (both translations are bundled with the app and work offline)
iOS encrypts data on your device at rest using the device passcode. When you uninstall Daybread, all of the above is automatically deleted.
Device identifier
Daybread uses a device identifier called identifierForVendor, which is assigned by iOS and is specific to the Daybread app on your device. We use it only to seed your daily verse selection so that you see the same verse on all your Apple devices and in the home-screen widget. The identifier resets automatically when you uninstall Daybread, and it never leaves your device.
Notifications
If you enable daily reminders during onboarding or in Settings, Daybread schedules local notifications (delivered by iOS itself, not by a server). You can turn these off at any time in Settings → Notifications → Daybread, or inside the Daybread app under Settings.
Third parties
Daybread does not send any data to any third party. There are no analytics providers, no ad networks, no crash reporters, and no marketing tools integrated. The app uses only Apple-provided iOS frameworks.
Children (COPPA)
Daybread is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13, it complies with the United States Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by design.
California residents (CCPA / CPRA)
We do not collect, sell, or share personal information. As a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect (none), to delete personal information we hold (uninstall the app removes all local data), to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we don't sell or share any), and to non-discrimination for exercising your rights. Because Daybread doesn't collect personal information in the first place, no opt-out request is necessary.
EU / UK / Switzerland (GDPR)
Data controller: Drew Howlett (sole proprietor), United States. Contact: getpawdiohelp@gmail.com.
We do not process personal data through any backend service. All data described above is stored solely on your device. As an EU/EEA/UK resident, you retain all rights under the GDPR, including the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to processing, and the right to data portability. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority (e.g., the UK Information Commissioner's Office, or your country's data protection authority in the EU).
Because no personal data leaves your device, there are no international data transfers, no Standard Contractual Clauses required, and no recipients of your information.
Data breach
Because no personal data ever leaves your device or reaches any server we operate, a server-side breach is not possible. If a security vulnerability is discovered in the Daybread app itself that could expose locally-stored data, we will publish a notice and ship a fix as quickly as possible.

Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in the future, we will update this page and the "Effective date" above. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
